Karen Kozik is a recognized Human Resources professional known for aligning HR initiatives with business goals. She offers a practical and solutions-driven approach to operational improvement and Human Capital Management. During her career, Karen has been instrumental in the handling and realization of HRIS capabilities for small and mid-size companies, including start-ups. She has also helped assimilate employees post-merger and acquisition as well as assisted with the outplacement of employees due to staff reductions.
As Director of Human Resources, Karen provides strategic solutions for training and education, recruitment and performance management, and recently managed a payroll system conversion. In her previous role as Regional Human Resource Consultant at Willis North America, she held a key role in counseling managers on employee relations issues to resolve and deescalate problems. Karen developed and maintained credible and active relationships with all regional and corporate management.
While serving as Vice President, Human Resources for TJ Adams and Hilb Rogal & Hobbs (HRH), she raised the visibility of human resources within the firm by bringing HR to the forefront during restructuring and creating a culture of ongoing organizational development. Her work in centralizing employee functions and standardizing processes and procedures produced an efficient and cohesive client service team in the Property and Casualty Division.
While the majority of Karen’s 20-year career has been in the Human Resources field, she was also a property marketer at Aon Risk Services where she was responsible for placing mid-size and large accounts with insurance companies and intermediaries. While at Aon, she held various positions in which she built and managed a responsive compliance team for the Chicago office, led a regional quality initiative that identified and communicated best practices and developed employee handbooks and procedural manuals.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Roosevelt University and is a member of the Human Resource Management Association of Chicago and Human Capital Institute.
